In a season that many say shouldn’t have been played because of the clear dangers of a pandemic, college football pushed through, hell or high water, to its version of a Final Four. As the games kick off, let’s take a look at some of the most embarrassing and most unforgettable moments in CFP history. Let’s begin with most embarrassing: Florida State forgets how to play football, 2015 source: Getty Images Jameis Winston and his defending champ Florida State teammates came into the first ever CFP semifinal in 2015 riding a 29-game undefeated streak … and got summarily smacked down in Pasadena by Oregon. The Ducks made the Seminoles look like their feet were stuck in quicksand for the majority of the game. It didn’t end well for the team from Tallahassee as Oregon would roll 59-20. Winston would finish with nearly 350 yards passing on his way to being selected by the Bucs at No. 1 in the NFL Draft that June. Tua gets smacked by Trevor Lawrence, 2019 source: Getty Images This was easily the most embarrassing loss we’ve ever witnessed from Alabama in the Nick Saban era. In a highly anticipated championship game in 2019, many were expecting the Crimson Tide to claim yet another title behind the arm of Heisman finalist Tua Tagovailoa. Little did they know that a true freshman playing on the other sideline would look like the Heisman candidate instead. Trevor Lawrence and Clemson completely dominated Alabama for nearly the entire game. Clemson looked like the better team in every way, and made Alabama look like a whimpering puppy by the middle of the third quarter. Clemson would coast to a 44-16 win, and the title. Irish look like peewee team vs. Clemson, Dec. 2018 source: Getty Images Notre Dame is no stranger to getting their dignity completely taken from them on national TV, but the Cotton Bowl against that same Clemson squad at the end of the 2018 season gave America the perfect opportunity to ridicule the Fighting Irish once again. Notre Dame often plays their win into these big showcase games by playing subpar competition, and then gets squashed by clearly superior teams. What a waste of a spot. Clemson would go on to win 30-3. Michigan State gets ‘sonned’ by ’Bama, 2016 source: Getty Images The Spartans got run over like dead possum on a two-lane road in the middle of the night. The semifinal game between Michigan State and Alabama after the 2015 season showed us exactly why every team that thinks they deserve a seat at the table, most often does not. Michigan State was able to do absolutely nothing effectively against the Crimson Tide. They couldn’t even rush for more than 30 yards in the entire game! Heisman winner Derrick Henry mostly took it easy on them until he decided to strip a Spartan defender of his manhood by stiff-arming him to the turf. Alabama won the game 38-0. Ohio State plays like pooh against Clemson, 2017 source: Getty Images Ohio State got thrown around like a rag doll in the semifinal game following the 2016 season. The culprit? Eventual champ Clemson. Deshaun Watson ate up the Ohio State defense like a 10-piece wings with ranch (Ed. note: Ahem, Donovan … OR blue cheese OR lemon pepper), and the Ohio State offense had absolutely no answer. On paper, it might have been the most embarrassing loss in the history of Ohio State football, but I’ll let “The” OSU fans decide that for themselves. The Tigers would win the game, 31-0. Now let’s move on to some of the brightest moments … Joe Burrow puts up video game numbers, 2020 source: Getty Images At the end of the 2019 season, LSU’s Joe Burrow had arguably the best performance in back-to-back CFP games that we’ve ever seen. The man had eight total touchdowns in the semifinal game versus Oklahoma, throwing for almost 500 yards and completing 74 percent of his passes. He would follow that up with a championship game performance against Clemson that saw the Heisman Trophy winner put up six total touchdowns and 521 yards of total offense. Obviously, LSU would win the chip that season and end up as one of the best teams in college football history. Saban survives Dabo, Deshaun’s O with onside kick, 2016 source: Getty Images Like him or not, Nick Saban is one of the greatest coaches in college football history and one of the greatest coaching decisions of his career would ultimately decide the 2016 National Championship game against Clemson. In the fourth quarter, with the score tied at 24, it was blatantly obvious that Alabama’s defense wasn’t going to be able to stop Deshaun Watson and the Clemson offense. So Saban decided to try an onside kick to steal a possession from Dabo Swinney and Tigers. Needless to say, it worked to perfection and the Crimson Tide would go on to win. 45-40, for Saban’s fifth championship. Deshaun plays like Superman, gets revenge, 2017 source: Getty Images Watson and the Clemson Tigers were out for revenge when they matched up with Alabama for the second year in a row in the 2017 national championship game. Watson looked like a stud all game long against a highly talented Alabama defense. They even hit Watson so hard that game they made him spin like a helicopter. Through it all, Watson would score four total touchdowns including the game-winner with only one second left in the game. Georgia’s running game outlasts Mayfield, 2018 source: Getty Images The semifinal Rose Bowl matchup between Georgia and Oklahoma in 2018 might be the best game we’ve ever seen in the College Football Playoff era. That’s saying something given the previous game was won in the final second. This double-OT thriller saw Georgia barely squeak past Baker Mayfield, who accounted for four touchdowns and nearly 290 yards. Future NFL running backs Sony Michel and Nick Chubb would both run for more than 140 yards in the game while averaging 10+ yards per carry. Georgia would go on to lose to Alabama in the championship game that season … Tua subs in and wins a chip, 2018 source: Getty Images The Alabama offense was absolutely abysmal in the first half of the 2018 title game against Georgia. The Crimson Tide literally had zero points at halftime. That all changed when Tua Tagovailoa replaced Jalen Hurts after halftime. Tagovailoa would lead Alabama on the comeback trail and eventually win the game in overtime with a 41-yard deep pass to DeVonta Smith. It’s now one of the most memorable plays in recent college football history. Tagovailoa finished the game with three passing touchdowns and was named offensive player of the game. Competition: Premier League
Market: Everton to beat Bournemouth
Odds:
The Premier League is gearing up for its final game week of 2017 as every team in England is looking to finish the year on a high. The festive period has been one that has separated the weaker from the stronger in the league, and one side that will be sorry to see December end is Everton, and they travel to face Bournemouth on Saturday.
Bournemouth are in awful form recently and they are in real danger of being relegated this season. After 20 games they have won just four times, drawing five games and losing 11 matches, scoring 18 goals and conceding 31 times along the way. The 17 points they have collected has barely been helped by the fact they have claimed just two points …
Jose Mourinho has described reports suggesting he will quit Manchester United at the end of the season as garbage .
United have won just one of their last five games in all competitions, prompting suggestions the Portuguese was growing disillusioned with life at Old Trafford and seeking a way out in June.
However, speaking ahead of Friday s FA Cup third-round clash at home to Derby County, a forthright Mourinho insisted he was going nowhere.
Asked about the speculation, he said: It depends what you want to know and what you want to speak about. If you want to speak about some news – I say garbage, I don t find better words to define the talk.
If you want to ask me directly, which I suppose you want, if I see myself next season at Manchester United, …
Premier League high-fliers Southampton spoiled Paul Lambert s 100th game as Aston Villa manager by snatching a late 1-1 draw at Villa Park.
Nathaniel Clyne, fresh from making his England debut in the recent international break, scored his third goal of the season nine minutes from time to secure a share of the spoils.
Villa spent much of the first half under the cosh, but went ahead against the run of play thanks to the persistence of Gabby Agbonlahor, who capitalised on Fraser Forster s error.
The goal was the first that Southampton had conceded in over seven hours of Premier League football, but they struggled to break down a resolute home backline.
Having snapped a run of six straight defeats with a 0-0 draw at West Ham before the international break,…

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez says Roberto Mancini s recent praise of Robin van Persie will only serve as added motivation for his side.
The English Premier League champions sit seven points behind neighbours Manchester United, and the Italian recently lamented his attacking unit s lack of goals so far this season.
The club s defensive coach Angelo Gregucci revealed this week City were chasing a deal for Napoli forward Edinson Cavani, but Tevez insists this will only spur the current crop on.
Those words were a motivation for the strikers and we know that we need to carry on fighting, Tevez told reporters.
City s front men have shared 10 goals between them in their past three games, with only Mario Balotelli failing to score in that run.

The agent of Ajaccio and Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has played down speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool.
The 27-year-old has been in fine form in Ligue 1 and is rumoured to be a potential replacement for Pepe Reina, who has been linked with Barcelona, who are set to lose goalkeeper Victor Valdes on a free transfer.
Ochoa s agent Jorge Berlanga has been quick to dispel any talk of a move to Anfield, but has claimed there is genuine interest in his player from several clubs.
Many clubs are interested in Memo, and they have been watching him, but we are still at the stage of rumours, Berlanga told So Foot.
Ochoa has been at Ajaccio since the summer of 2011, having started his career at Mexican side Club America in 2004.

Liverpool will carry out checks on Curtis Jones after the midfielder missed the 3-0 friendly defeat to Strasbourg on Sunday due to a mystery injury.
A day on from Liverpool beating Manchester City 3-1 in the Community Shield, a largely second-string XI lined up at Anfield for the visit of Strasbourg.
Two goals from Adrien Thomasson and one from Habib Diallo condemned the hosts to a defeat in their last match before the Premier League season gets under way.
Klopp had planned on using Jones, who made just a fleeting appearance off the bench against City, but revealed the 21-year-old had a problem that would need further examination.
It remains to be seen whether Jones is fit to play any part when Liverpool launch their league campaign at Fulham on Saturday…

Phil Parkinson is struggling to come to terms with Bradford City s shock 4-2 win at Chelsea in the FA Cup fourth round.
Phil Parkinson believes Bradford City s astonishing 4-2 FA Cup fourth-round victory at Chelsea will take time to fully sink in.
Few gave the League One side much hope of avoiding defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and a routine home win looked on the cards when Chelsea took a 2-0 lead.
However, goals from Jonathan Stead, Filipe Morais, Andy Halliday and Mark Yeates saw Bradford mount an incredible comeback to send the visiting fans wild as they celebrated one of the greatest FA Cup shocks in the competition s long history.

A plague of mistakes in their 5-2 loss to France on Friday left Switzerland frustrated with their performance at the FIFA World Cup.
