Eagles vs Buccaneers Odds, Picks, and Wild Card Predictions: Pirates Clip Wounded Wings

This weekend’s Wild Card odds slate reaches its conclusion tonight when the Philadelphia Eagles visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — a surprising playoff pairing in the NFC.

Philadelphia seemed destined for at least the No. 2 seed in the conference as an early-season Super Bowl odds leader, but a late-season freefall has the Eagles lugging a 1-5 SU slump (0-6 ATS) into the postseason.

Tampa Bay, on the other hand, was able to do enough to secure the NFC South title and the home playoff game that comes with it, closing the regular season on a 5-1 SU streak (4-2 ATS). Despite the hot form, the NFL odds have the Buccaneers as home underdogs for this 8 p.m. ET kickoff.

I dissect the spread and betting total for Monday night’s Wild Card matchup and g…

Jaguars vs Bills Predictions, Picks, and Odds for Monday Night Football

Week 3 in the NFL finishes this evening with a pair of games on Monday Night Football, including a showdown between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills.

Although Jacksonville is 0-2 to start the year, my Jaguars vs. Bills predictions aren’t expecting the Jags to roll over. Read on to see why the Jags covering are among my best NFL picks for tonight’s clash.

Jaguars vs Bills MNF prediction

My best betJaguars +5.5 (-110 at FanDuel)

My analysisThis bet really comes down to two things: the long-term trend of 0-2 teams covering the spread as underdogs in Week 3 and the fact that Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence isn’t as bad as he’s played so far this year.

Lawrence has completed just 51% o…

Euro 2012 Group A preview: Greece v Czech Republic

Failure to win against Greece in Wroclaw on Tuesday could spell the end of the Czech Republic s hopes at Euro 2012.

A 4-1 loss to Russia in their Group A opener was disastrous for the Czechs, as their defence was repeatedly torn apart by the likes of Alan Dzagoev and Andrey Arshavin.

But despite the heavy defeat, Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech believes his team can still qualify for the quarter-finals.

The first game sometimes shows what the group will be like but it s not the key one, Cech said.

The crucial game will be the second one (against Greece). If we fail in that one, our chances of advancing will be very thin.

A 4-1 defeat doesn t look the best but it s basically the same as 1-0 you simply get no points.

We lost a battle, not th…

The Real striker hasn’t been at his best this season, but he’s still turned in a somewhat impressive 47% goal-to-game ratio in all competitions. With three goals from his last five internationals with Les Blues, Benzema has shown he’s still in good condition for the World Cup and could be a dark horse for the Golden Boot, with France boasting a very strong outfit this summer.

Premier League review 29th January 2013

Papiss Cisse opened the scoring in Newcastle s 2-1 win at Aston Villa

Last night’s Premier League games produced both enthralling action and goalless draws in equal measure.

In the big game at the bottom of the Premier League table Newcastle won 2-1 at rivals Aston Villa to move further clear of the relegation zone.

The visitors started the brighter and got their reward on 19 minutes. Midfielder Moussa Sissoko making his debut produced a sublime through ball for Papiss Cisse and the Senegal striker fired low past Brad Guzan in the Villa goal.

Villa grew into the game, but were two goals down on 31 minutes. French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye scored from 25 yards out with a fantastic half-volley. Villa came out like a different team in the seco…

FIFA World Cup 2022: The 5 global heavyweights who endured a Group Stage nightmare in Qatar

While the likes of seven-time Ballon d Or winner Lionel Messi might have enjoyed a real World Cup romp in Qatar this year, there have been some notable heavyweight collapses in the Middle East.

With European giants Spain shockingly crashing out of the World Cup s first winter tournament following an infamous penalties defeat against Morocco, La Roja joins what has been a blockbuster list of early departures.

Joining the likes of Germany, Belgium and Uruguay who have headed home without making a knockout stage appearance, there have also been some superstar players who really failed to make any kind of impact on the world stage.

On a list that includes some of Europe s most notable and influential stars, we have taken a glance at a handful of heavyweight names wh…

On this day in 2016 – Chelsea and Jose Mourinho settle Eva Carneiro claim

Chelsea and Jose Mourinho reached a settlement with former team doctor Eva Carneiro over her claims that she was constructively dismissed by the club, and victimised by its former manager, on this day in 2016.

Carneiro had brought the claim at an employment tribunal, accusing Mourinho of victimisation and discrimination. She was due to begin giving evidence but after last-minute talks between the parties, a settlement was agreed.

Mourinho made a surprise appearance at the hearing at the London South Employment Tribunal centre in Croydon.

Addressing the tribunal, Daniel Stilitz QC, for Chelsea and Mourinho, said: “We are pleased to be able to tell the tribunal that the parties agreed a settlement on confidential terms.”

The case was expected to last se…

Harry Kane NFL Odds: Will the Tottenham Star Switch Leagues?

Would a world-class soccer player truly consider switching to the other kind of football? That’s exactly what Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane said he’d like to do. During an interview with Good Morning America on Wednesday, Kane told Michael Strahan that he’d “love to give it a go” sometime later this decade.

Of course, just like most things in the sports world, that led to a betting market being created. Odds came out on Thursday for 10 high-profile soccer players on whether they would be playing in the National Football League before the end of the 2024-25 campaign. Kane opened as a +1,000 best odds pick, with superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo being the only other players with better than +5,000 odds.…
